    Jun 28, 2017

THE Philippines fell to top-seed Netherlands, 13-10, on Wednesday to finish Day One of the 2017 Fiba Under-18 3x3 World Cup with a 1-1 win-loss record in Group A in Chengdu, China.

The Filipino cagers put on a gallant stand where they tied the match at 10-10 only to struggle to come up with the much-needed points in the endgame.

Earlier, the Philippines beat Israel, 19-17, to start its campaign on a high note before falling to the much-taller Dutch side.

Juan Gomez de Liano scored a two-pointer and AJ Edu connected on a lay-up as the Philippines started out with a 3-0 lead but saw itself fall behind, 10-6, in the contest.
