EXACTLY six days from now, the Fiba Asia Champions Cup in Chenzou, China kicks off.
But the team that will represent the Philippines in the September 22-30 tournament has yet to finalize its lineup.
Asked when they are expected to come up with the official roster, Chooks-To-Go Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes gave no definite answer.
"Wala pa, still waiting," said head coach Chot Reyes after a 95-83 win against NLEX-SCTEX in a tuneup game on Saturday.
"Kaya hindi kami maka-practice ng todo because we're still trying to fit in the guys who are trying out."
Reyes said there are about nine shoo-ins, including Isaiah Austin, Kiefer Ravena, Jeron Teng, and Raymar Jose. But they are still waiting for the availability of PBA players Terrence Romeo and Carl Bryan Cruz, whose teams are still fighting for survival in the ongoing PBA Governors' Cup.
"I think we have about 9-10 players now, we're still waiting on CBC and Terrence," he said.
It might take awhile, but Reyes said they just have to make sure players will be ready in time for the club league.
"Ganun talaga yun, it is what it is. We just have to rely on our experience. We'll rely sa ating abilidad, parang ginawa natin sa FIBA Asia di ba," he said.
