THE Philippine team hopes to come home with heads held high as they face a vengeful Mono Vampire Thailand squad in the battle for fifth place on the last day of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup.
The match starts at 12:15 p.m. at the Chenzhou Sports Center on Saturday.
On a high following a commanding 92-57 win over Shabab Al Ahli-Dubai, the Chooks-To-Go bannered team is looking to sweep the Thailand club to salvage its campaign in the China showpiece with a fifth place finish.
To do so, the Philippine team hopes for a repeat of its superb shooting, after dropping 14 triples on the way to a 115-102 victory in its first clash with the Thais.
Carl Cruz made eight treys for team-high 28 points, while Isaiah Austin posted a double-double of 27 points and 19 rebounds and Kiefer Ravena added 24 markers.
Chooks will need to play the same way if they are to beat a Thailand side reinforced by former PBA import Michael Singletary and Fil-Am Jason Brickman, who are raring for payback against a rival in the region.
Singletary paced Thailand with 32 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in that match and expect the high-octane to come out with fire in his eyes as he looks to avenge their loss to Chooks in the group stages.
