JAKARTA – Syria beat Indonesia, 76-66, on Tuesday at the GBK Basketball Hall to arrange a battle-for-fifth match with the Philippines in the 2018 Asian Games men’s basketball tournament.
Tarek Aljabi finished with 33 points for the Syrians, who will play the Philippines on Friday for fifth place in the men’s basketball competition.
The Syrian cagers outscored the hosts, 26-9, in the second quarter for a 52-24 halftime lead. Indonesia tried to mount a comeback in the fourth after scoring 25 points but it was not enough.
Arki Wisnu and Xaverius Prawito had 14 points each for Indonesia, which will play Japan in the battle for seventh place.
