PERLAS Pilipinas defeated Sri Lanka, 65-45, on Monday for its second win in the 2015 Fiba-Asia Women’s Championship Level 2 in Wuhan, China.
Shelley Anne Gupilan had 15 points while Ewon Arayi finished with nine and six steals for the Filipina cagebelles, who claimed their second consecutive win following their come-from-behind victory over North Korea on Sunday.
Perlas Pilipinas improved to a 2-1 record, its lone loss coming on opening day against Malaysia last Saturday
The team aims to finish in the top two of the competition where a promotion to Level 1 is at stake.
The Philippine quintet blew the game wide open in the second quarter when they came away with 17 straight points in outscoring the Sri Lankans, 22-6, for a 36-20 lead.
The Philippines will face Hong Kong on Tuesday and Kazakhstan on Wednesday.
