THE PBA will join the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) during the official drawing of lots for the 2019 FIBA World Cup this Saturday in Shenzhen, China.
League board chairman Ricky Vargas along with Commissioner Willie Marcial will lead the PBA delegation that leaves for the Chinese metropolis on Friday.
Vargas and SBP president Al Panlilio of Meralco however, serves as the contingent’s advance by joining SBP chairman emeritus Manny V. Pangilinan in Hong Kong as early as Thursday before travelling to nearby Shenzhen.
No less than Fiba invited the PBA board to witness the draw festival to be held at the Nanshan Cultural and Sports Center.
Only Atty. Raymund Zorilla of Phoenix won’t be able to join the board as he will be attending the road game between the Fuel Masters and defending champion San Miguel in Panabo for the celebration of ‘Araw ng Dabaw.’
No members of Team Pilipinas coaching staff will be in Shenzhen as coach Yeng Guiao will call the shots for NLEX in a game against Blackwater on Sunday, while deputy Caloy Garcia will be busy handling Rain or Shine when it plays Meralco on Friday.
The board will return to the country on Sunday.
NBA great Kobe Bryant will be gracing the drawing festival along with American singer-songwriter Jason Derulo.
