PAUL Lee showed up in street clothes on Friday during Team Pilipinas’ tune-up game against Meralco, but national coach Yeng Guiao said there is nothing to worry about.
Guiao said Lee opted to rest for Friday’s tune-up game against Meralco, but will be ready when Team Pilipinas resumes its practice in Doha, Qatar.
“Nire-rest lang niya ‘yung paa niya. He should be ready by tomorrow to leave and the next day to practice. I don’t have anything to worry about kay Paul,” said Guiao.
Lee said he is feeling pain in his right knee following Magnolia’s loss to Rain or Shine last Wednesday, but assured he will be healthy for the sixth and final window of the Fiba Basketball World Cup Asian qualifiers.
“Ni-rest ko lang ‘yung jumpers’ knee ko,” said Lee, who also recently suffered an injury to his finger. “Sama nung last game namin, lalong sumakit. Okay lang naman. Bahala na pagdating sa window kung ano gagawin.”
Will he recover in time?
“Oo naman, kaya naman tiisin ‘yung sakit. Hindi ko lang in-ano dahil feeling ko lumalala,” said Lee.
Lee is looking forward to making the final roster for the Philippines' games against Qatar and Kazakhstan after missing the games in the previous window against Kazakhstan and Iran.
“Siyempre sobrang excited ako. Gusto ko makabawi sa last two games. Hopefully, maganda ‘yung kalabasan ng window na ‘to,” said Lee.
