GABE Norwood expressed delight over the positive effect that Andray Blatche's arrival had on Gilas Pilipinas in his first practice with the team on Monday.

"I think that's the Dray effect. It's great to see him back in here and now that he's here, I think everybody understands that we have to really maximize his days even more now," said the national team captain at the end of training at the Meralco Gym.

Though Blatche is still groping for form, Norwood liked what he saw in the naturalized player's first session with the squad, believing that the longer the Syracuse-born big man trains with the team, the better his conditioning will be.

"It looked like he's in pretty good shape, getting up and down with us," he said.

"Anytime Dray's in the room, I think it's a boost of confidence for us. Just to physically have him here, there's no more questions on when he's gonna be here or anything like that. He's here and he's present and he's active. I think everybody is excited."

Norwood, though, knows that Blatche need to once again adjust to and become familiair with a new group of players at Gilas, among them PBA rookies CJ Perez and Robert Bolick.

"He's gotta get caught up pretty fast, and we all have to build that chemistry once again with him on the court, especially with a few new faces out here," the Rain or Shine veteran guard said.

"It's good to have as many people as you can, and hopefully on Thursday, we'll have the full lineup out here running around."
