THERE is no truth to chatter going around on social media that Gilas Pilipinas held a tune-up game against TNT and celebrated import Bol Bol in the lead-up to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers.
A number of social media pages carried that report, but no less than TNT team manager Jojo Lastimosa confirmed that no such tune-up ever happened, more so since the Tropang 5G just recently returned to practice.
“We have no formal training yet,” said Lastimosa.

TNT has barely started the process of integrating Bol into its system since the 7-foot-3 son of former NBA player Manute Bol arrived as one of the most celebrated import signings in recent years.
Bol spent six seasons in the NBA himself with the Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic, and the Phoenix Suns.

Meanwhile, Gilas played one tuneup against Magnolia at the SMC headquarters in Pasig City last Saturday and will be playing on Thursday against New Zealand at the Mall of Asia Arena.
