ALTHOUGH he has yet to submit the final lineup for the Jones Cup, Gilas caoch Chot Reyes bared the team is tapping Mike Myers to reinforce the national team in the Taipei showpiece.
"We're pretty set with Mike. He's already agreed," Reyes said after the team wrapped up its first practice with Kobe Paras and Kiefer Ravena on Tuesday at the Meralco Gym.
It could have been current TnT import Joshua Smith, but Reyes said the hulking import's injury forced them to look for other options.
Reyes said they also talked to Star's Ricardo Ratliffe but the hardworking import opted to rest after his stint in the PBA Commissioner's Cup.
"We had wanted Josua Smith but his injury prevents that from happening. Same thing with the others, but I think they're opting to play in the NBA summer league," said the outspoken mentor.
"Ratliffe wants to rest. I don't know if we can get him. But at least for the Jones Cup, he said he wants to rest first."
And then there's the Maryland Eastern Shore standout, who has been training with the team while waiting for his number to be called in the ongoing PBA Finals between San Miguel and TnT Katropa.
Myers may not be the best option but Reyes admired the TnT standby reinforcement's desire to work with the national team.
"We like Mike's attitude, he might not be the most talented, but the important thing is he's willing to work with th young guys. He's gonna work with us as well," he said.
