RAYMOND Almazan formally joined Gilas practice as a practice player on Sunday as the Philippine national team remains short of players.

The Rain or Shine big man attended Gilas practice on Sunday morning at the Meralco Gym despite being ineligible for the Fiba Olympic Qualifying Tournament in July.

Almazan adds to the thinning Gilas frontcourt as Junemar Fajardo remained sidelined due to swelling in his right knee. Although he was present for the practice, Fajardo was a mere spectator, with ice on his knees at one point during the training session.

Also attending the practice for the second time is naturalized player Andray Blatche who arrived in the country on Friday night.

Blatche didn't take part in full practice on Saturday as Gilas Pilipinas coach Tab Baldwin opted to rest the former NBA player to allow him to recover from jetlag.
