THE mind games finally begin with three weeks to go before the Fiba-Asia Men’s Championship in Changsha, China.

On Wednesday, Lebanon sent an advisory that it will no longer see action in the MVP Cup to be hosted by the country from set Sept. 11-13.

An obviously disappointed Sports5 head Chot Reyes made the announcement in his twitter account@coachot.

“Lebanon NT backs out after officially confirming participation in the MVP Cup #smh - stay tuned for the replacement team #neveragainvitethem,” Reyes, the former Gilas Pilipinas coach, tweeted.

“Nope,” was Reyes’ curt reply when asked by Spin.ph if Lebanon gave reason for its withdrawal at the last minute.

The four-nation invitational tournament is being organized by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) as part of Gilas Pilipinas’ preparation for the qualifier to the 2016 Rio Olympics. It is to feature Lebanon, along with Chinese-Taipei, New Zealand, and the PH team.

Lebanon is a major Asian power and consistent contender in every Fiba-Asia tournaments.
