PBA veterans and Gilas Pilipinas cadets buckled down to work as the national squad preparing for the Fiba Asian Cup held its fourth practice on Sunday at the Upper Deck gym.

June Mar Fajardo, Jayson Castro, Gabe Norwood, Raymond Almazan, Carl Bryan Cruz, Roger Pogoy and Fil-German Christian Standhardinger showed up for the Sunday session.

However, Calvin Abueva and Jio Jalalon weren't around. 'The Beast,' in fact, has yet to show up since the team bound for the August 8-20 showpiece in Lebanon started to practice last week.

Terrence Romeo, Japeth Aguilar and Matthew Wright were also absent but were excused as their clubs saw action in the PBA double-header on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Fiba Asia Cup begins nine days from now.

On standby as possible replacement for Cruz in the region's biennial meet, Mac Belo also joined the team in the two-hour practice.

British coach Tim Lewis was also in attendance.
