JUNE Mar Fajardo finally joined Gilas Pilipinas in practice Saturday, raising hopes of having the 6-foot-9 San Miguel Beer stalwart come on board going into the crucial stage of the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup in Beirut, Lebanon.

Fajardo suited up in the national team’s light practice a day after its 84-68 win over Iraq, hardly showing any ill effects of the strained right calf muscle that put in doubt his availability for the August 8 to 20 Asian showpiece.

Videos of Fajardo playing in practice was shown in the reality TV series Kwentong Gilas

In his stay with the team in Lebanon, the three-time PBA MVP had been held to just doing stretching exercises and shooting at the sidelines.

Coach Chot Reyes however, remains mum on whether the Cebuano big man would be ready to play in Gilas final game in the group phase against winless Qatar on Sunday night.

The Filipinos are currently on top of Pool B with a 2-0 mark, highlighted by their 96-87 upset of defending champion China during their opening game Wednesday.

Regardless of the outcome of the Qatar game, Gilas is already assured of making the quarterfinals.
