JERON Teng has asked Gilas coach Chot Reyes if he can try out for a spot with Gilas Pilipinas squad for the Soueatheast Asian Games.

"Actually sa France pa lang sinasabi ko na sa kanila na gusto ko rin sumama sa training so yun, nag-reach out na ako kay Coach Chot, sinabi ko kung pwede mag tryout," said Teng.

Kiefer Ravena and Kobe Paras, Teng’s teammates in the Philippine squad that placed 11th in the Fiba 3x3 World Cup in France, were earlier confirmed for the Gilas pool preparing for the Jones Cup in Taipei. JR Quinahan was the other Philippine team member in the France tournament.

The former La Salle Green Archers star received a phone call from Reyes on Saturday after the Chooks-Pilipinas 3x3 press conference at the Discovery Suites in Ortigas, and confirmed he will attend Gilas' training on Tuesday.

"Sana mabigyan (ng chance). Wala akong idea kung ano yung team nila," said Teng.

"Wala namang player na di gusto maglaro for the country. There's no greater glory than to play for the country," he said.
