TAIPEI - JC Intal played his best game in a Gilas Pilipinas uniform in a game against Iran on Thursday, and insisted a Twitter basher that got his goat the night before had nothing to do with it.

Intal came off the bench to score 10 points behind a perfect 2-for-2 clip from three-point range in Gilas' 65-74 loss to Hamed Haddadi and Iran, backing his claim for a spot in the team bound for the Fiba Asia championship.

The Barako Bull forward said he merely tried to play his role for a Gilas team that needed to make shots from the outside to spread the floor with the 7-2 Haddadi and high-leaper Oshin Sahakian patrolling the paint for Iran.

"Kanina kasi, kailangan naming umatake," said the former Ateneo star. "I just did my part as a floor spacer."

The 6-3 forward from Minalin, Pampanga said he was not out to prove he belongs with Gilas; neither was trying to silence a basher on Twitter who, after the game against Japan on Wednesday, questioned Intal's heart and nerves while throwing in an expletive in between.

"Dinamay nanay ko, eh," he said. "Actually, I deleted my reply na. I had to control myself din. Yung nature ko kasi, tahimik lang. Di ko sana gusto pansinin mga bashers, pero pag ganun ibang usapan na 'yun."

The usually calm player snapped back with his own expletive-filled reply which he has since deleted, and later said he had put the incident behind him.

"'Yung tweet kagabi, kinalimutan ko na. Of course, nakaka-add sa motivation, but I’d rather forget it kesa sirain nya ako," he said.
