Austin posts double-double, CBC hits eight treys as PH team downs Thai club in Fiba Asia Champions Cup

CARL Bryan Cruz, Isaiah Austin and Kiefer Ravena showed the way as the Philippine team bonced back in the Fiba Asia Champions Cup with a 115-102 win over Thailand's Mono Vampire on Sunday at the Chenzhou Sports Center in China.

Cruz made eight of 11 shots from the three-point area for and finished with a team-high 28 points.

Austin had a huge double-double of 27 points and 19 rebounds and also had four blocks as Chooks to Go Pilipinas scored its second win in three games for the solo lead in Group A.

Ravena took charge in the final period, dropping 14 of his 24 points.

Chooks led by as many as 15 points after Austin rattled the rim with a left-handed slam off a Ravena lob with 2:07 remaining, 107-92.

Former PBA import Michael Singletary sparked a 10-2 run as the Thais moved to within 102-109, with 31.1 to go.

Austin capped the victory with a windmill dunk as time expired.

Singletary paced the Thailand side with 32 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Jason Brickman added 17 points, seven boards, nine assists and four steals.

The Philippine side will next face Petrochimi of Iran on Tuesday at 9:45 p.m.
