INDONESIA flashed its potential with a full-strength squad as it drubbed Myanmar, 123-50, on Wednesday the eve of its anticipated showdown against Gilas Pilipinas in the Southeast Asian Basketball Association Championship.

With naturalized player Jamarr Johnson and US-born standout Arki Wisnu back in harness, the Indonesians flexed their muscles against the Burmese to register their fifth straight victory.

The 73-point blowout is the second-largest winning margin in this tournament after the Philippines’ 107-point rout also against Myanamar on opening day.

Local standouts Abraham Grahita and Hardianus Lakudu still showed the way with 19 and 18 points, respectively, for the Indonesians, who kept the Burmese winless after four games.

But the two newcomers provided ample support as Johnson put up 17 points, seven boards, three assists, two steals, and one block in just 21 minutes, while Wisnu added instant offense with seven points in just eight minutes

“It’s good for us having them before facing Philippines,” Indonesia coach Wahyu Widayat Jati said after the game. “They can give us more energy.”

The 6-foot-5 Johnson put on the exclamation point with a layup that gave the Indonesians their biggest lead at 75, 123-48, before Myanmar scored on the other end to determine the final score.

Aung Wana again led the Burmese with 16 points, but missed all his three three-point attempts and committed seven turnovers in 28 minutes.
