Chinese Taipei boosts confidence ahead of Fiba Asia with thrilling win over Korea

CHINESE Taipei beat reigning Asian Games champion Korea, 79-76, in a friendly recently at Jincheon, Korea as part of the two teams' preparations for the 2015 Fiba-Asia Men’s Championship in Changsha, China.

A report by said the Chinese Taipei squad came out in full force led by naturalized player Quincy Davis and Tien Lei.

Chinese Taipei is in Korea training for the September 23 to October 3 qualifier to the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics.

Lee Jonghyun had 10 points for Korea, which rested Moon Taeyoung, Cho Sungmin, and Kim Taesol in the exhibition match.

“The defeat will help us to motivate our guys,” said Korea head coach Kim Dong Kwang, whose team is out to improve on its third-place finish in the 2013 edition of the biennial meet when they beat Chinese Taipei for the bronze.

Korea is set to have three more friendly games.
