CALVIN Abueva, arguably the heart and soul of Gilas Pilipinas, finally reported for duty on Wednesday afternoon.

Abueva showed up in practice at Meralco gym for the first time since Alaska suffered yet another finals heartbreak in the PBA.

The Aces workhorse and reigning Commissioner's Cup Best Player of the Conference was supposed to rejoin practice on Tuesday, but his return was delayed owing to a personal matter.

Abueva's arrival increased the attendance to 14 players, after 13 showed up on Wednesday.

Jeff Chan was also present, but continued to be a spectator as the Rain or Shine sniper recovers from a groin injury.
