BOBBY Ray Parks made a strong case for inclusion to the 14-man lineup of Gilas Pilipinas set for training in Europe after he performed well enough in their tune-up game against Iran on Wednesday.

Parks logged important minutes in Gilas’ 81-70 victory over Iran and finished with 11 points, three rebounds, and five assists. He was even on the court in helping the team withstand a fiery rally by the Iranians.

“It feels good,” said Parks after the game. “We have to trust one another. I guess coach [Tab] trusted me to be there with the other guys and we pulled through.”

Head coach Tab Baldwin praised Parks for stepping up with Ryan Reyes and Jayson Castro needing rest late in the game due to injuries.

"Ray plays hard, plays really smart, and he is a heck of an athlete. And again, it's just getting comfortable at this level and he is certainly good enough to play at this level. We can all see that it’s wonderful that we have increased our depth with Ray," said Baldwin, who withheld the announcement of the final 14 as the team will meet over dinner Wednesday night to discuss who makes the cut and who to drop.

After playing significant minutes for Gilas, Parks sees the potential of the team as the national squad goes to Greece for training camp in preparation for the Fiba Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

"Still got more in the tank. That’s all I can say. We are still feeling out each role and at the same time, the rotation. Coaches are still trying to make the 12-man line-up. [Coach Tab] is working on different combinations. This trip is going to be big for us," Parks said.
