IT'S Blackwater's turn to test the mettle of the Gilas team headed to the William Jones Cup at the Meralco Gym on Friday evening.

The Elite, led by their Governor's Cup import Trevis Simpson, was almost in full strength, missing only the likes of KG Canaleta and the injured Art Dela Cruz.

Mac Belo, Blackwater's prized rookie, suited up for the national team.

Gilas was likewise in full force, with Roger Pogoy finally joining the team in tune-ups after returning from a TNT's heartbreaking six-game loss to San Miguel in the PBA finals.

Only Matthew Wright wasn't in uniform among members of the Jones Cup-bound side.

This is the second of the three scheduled tune-up games this week for the squad headed for the July 15-23 showpiece in Chinese-Taipei.

Last Wednesday, Gilas scored a come from behind 113-112 win over NLEX in a game which left a lot to be desired for coach Chot Reyes.

The national team will wrap up its string of tune-ups on Saturday when it takes on Alaska at the Gatorade Hoops Center.
