LESS than a month away from the third window of the 2018 Fiba World Cup qualifiers, national coach Chot Reyes has brought back Baser Amer to the fold in Monday’s Gilas Pilipinas practices at Meralco Gym.

The Bolts guard’s arrival is a much-needed boost for the Philippine team, especially in the wake of Kiefer Ravena’s 18-month Fiba ban after testing positive for banned substances.

Joining the squad in practice were Jayson Castro, June Mar Fajardo, Gabe Norwood, Japeth Aguilar, Allein Maliksi, Mac Belo, Matthew Wright, and Jio Jalalon.

Terrence Romeo was in street clothes for the night while Roger Pogoy and Troy Rosario were in attendance but sat out after practicing earlier with the Philippine team preparing for the 2018 Fiba 3x3 World Cup.

Carl Bryan Cruz was also supposed to appear, but figured in an accident just in front of the Meralco compound when his car bumped into a motorcycle.

The team is pressed for time as it prepares for the last window of the first round. Gilas will face Chinese Taipei in Taiwan on June 29, before going home to host Australia on July 2 at Philippine Arena.

The Philippines is already qualified for the next round as it sits with a 3-1 record in Group B.
