    “I'm truly saddened and sorry in coming short of delivering the 2019 Fiba World Cup to our people. We gave it our all, and our best,” wrote Manny Pangilinan.  

    SAMAHANG Basketbol ng Pilipinas president Manny V. Pangilinan issued an apology after the country's national federation for the sport fell short in the bid to host the 2019 Fiba Basketball World Cup.

    Pangilinan made his feelings known in his Twitter account @iamMVP on Saturday.

    “I'm truly saddened and sorry in coming short of delivering the 2019 Fiba World Cup to our people. We gave it our all, and our best,” wrote Pangilinan.

    The Philippines lost the vote to China, 7-14, on Friday, to the disappointment of Filipino basketball fans.

    “Sakit,” wrote former Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes, who was part of the Philippine delegation in Tokyo to take part in the bidding.

    “As always, morning comes. Thank you to all messages of support. You are why we do this #SarapMagingPilipino #PUSO,” wrote Reyes in a recent tweet on his @coachot Twitter account.
