TALK ‘N Text turned to its touted rookies as it tripped Chinese Taipei, 99-91, in the MVP Cup on Saturday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Moala Tautuaa and Troy Rosario formed a potent one-two punch as the Tropang Texters shrugged off a late deficit to bounce back after a 93-77 loss to Gilas Pilipinas on opening day.
Tautuaa registered 20 points and 13 boards, while Rosario added 19 points and nine rebounds for the Texters, who kept the Taiwanese national team winless after two outings.
“Win or lose, it’s okay as long as the two (Tautuaa and Rosario) get adjusted to what we’re doing,” Texters coach Jong Uichico said.
Cheng Lui led registered team-highs of 24 points and five assists for the Taiwanese, who failed to hold on to an eight-point lead midway through the fourth quarter.
