MIKE Tolomia buried a three-pointer with eight seconds left as Gilas Pilipinas salvaged an 84-84 tie with Far Eastern University in a tune-up game on Sunday at the Gatorade Hoops Center.
Tolomia hit the three from the right wing to complete the comeback by Gilas 5.0, which barely beat the Tamaraws, 84-77, last Wednesday while playing shorthanded due to the unavailability of some players like Tolomia.
On Sunday, Gilas, deep in its preparation for the Fiba Asia Challenge Cup beginning on September 9 in Iran, fielded a full-strength lineup yet still trailed by nine points, 74-65, early in the fourth.
The Tamaraws were still up, 83-81, with 18 seconds to play, but Raymar Jose could only split his two free throws to leave the door open for the game-tying basket by Tolomia.
