THINGS took a turn for the worse for Marcio Lassiter as he's now set to miss the remainder of the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup - and likely Gilas Pilipinas' campaign in the 2019 Fiba World Cup in China as well.

Lassiter hurt his knee in the second quarter of San Miguel's do-or-die quarterfinal clash against NorthPort on Wednesday after knee-to-knee collision in midair with Garvo Lanete.

The full MRI report showed the sweet-shooting guard suffered a grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee, rendering him out of action for at least six weeks.

Team manager Gee Abanilla confirmed the news.

That will rule Lassiter out of action for the rest of the Beermen's campaign in the midseason conference as well as Gilas' campaign in the World Cup, set from August 31 to September 15 in China.

Without Lassiter in the wings, that puts more pressure on Roger Pogoy and Matthew Wright to supplant the national team the necessary outside shooting -- a key factor if the Philippines wants to score upsets in the group stages in Foshan.

It's also a huge dent for San Miguel, which is looking to keep its Grand Slam hopes alive as it awaits the winner of the Blackwater-Rain or Shine series in the semifinals.
