WHILE teammates are starting to hint about retirement from international play, Marc Pingris is firm he will see action if called up.
“Basta kapag kinuha ako, willing ako tulungan sila. Willing ako maglaro. Tignan natin,” Pingris said.
The national federation is looking to revert to the original Gilas program, and all-PBA teams will no longer be sent to Fiba tournaments but pros could still be tapped to reinforce the cadets.
Ranidel de Ocampo has declared his retirement from international play, while Jayson Castro says he is undecided.
Pingris is 34 but said he is willing to play in tough international tournaments, noting the importance of playing for flag and country.
“Tignan niyo naman, kahit papaano, nakikilala na ‘yung bansa natin. Alam naman natin na kaya nating lumaban basta ilagay lang ‘yung puso sa paglalaro, hindi lang ‘yung talent sa talent. Hindi tayo mananalo dun. Sana samahan natin ng puso talaga,” said Pingris.
