THE 3x3 men's team to the 30th Southeast Asian Games has definitely lost a gem in injured guard Robert Bolick.
Head coach Ronnie Magsanoc rued the partial ACL tear suffered by Bolick denied the host country of a player capable of leading the team to the gold medal.
"Sobrang sayang talaga," said Magsanoc when asked about the effect of Bolick's absence from the national pool.
The NorthPort rookie suffered the injury during the Batang Pier's PBA Governors Cup game against San Miguel Beer.
A week after, he underwent surgery and is expected to be out of action for six months.
The injury totally ruled out Bolick for the biennial meet if ever he gets to be picked as part of the official 3x3 team.
"(It's official) because of the injury he sustained on his knee that required surgery," Magsanoc said.
The national coach didn't deny Bolick's game is fit for 3x3.
"Kaya nga nakakahinayang," he said.
"But its beyond our control yung nangyari," Magsanoc added. "We've reached out to Robert and move forward affer."
The absence of Bolick left the national 3x3 team with only a six-man roster in CJ Perez, Terrence Romeo, Mac Belo, Jayson Perkins, Chris Newsome, and Mo Tautuaa.
