THE Gilas Pilipinas pool for the February window of the Fiba World Cup Asian Qualifiers will begin practice this January 23, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) executive director Sonny Barrios said.
Although the invitations have yet to be sent out, Achonny Winston and Jerom Lastimosa are expected to be among those who will vie for a roster spot in the final round of qualifiers for the 2023 showpiece.

Winston played for the LaSalle Green Archers and was a leading candidate for MVP until an injury plagued his season.
Lastimosa, meanwhile, repped Adamson and took the Falcons to an improbable Final Four run.
Chris Newsome of the Meralco Bolts is also expected to be invited to the pool for the February 24 grudge match against Lebanon and the February 27 match against Jordan, both at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
The full list of invitees to the pool won't be announced until the conclusion of the Commissioner's Cup Finals between Barangay Ginebra and the Bay Area Dragons.
Ginebra import Justin Brownlee is set to make his debut for Gilas in the window after his naturalization was signed into law by President Marcos.
The complete list of invites should be out next week, Barrios said.
