LA Salle expects Ben Mbala to return from his Fiba AfroBasket stint with Cameroon a better player.

In his debut, the Green Archers big man already showed just that with his improved shooting from beyond the arc.

Playing as a forward, Mbala started for Cameroon and finished with a team-high 15 points, to go with six rebounds, one steal and one block but in a loss to Tunisia, 68-51, on Friday.

Cameroon started strong and led 20-12 after the first quarter, but Tunisia recovered and pulled away in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

The surprising stat in Mbala's line, however, is that the La Salle import was Cameroon's best shooter from long range, hitting 2-of-4 from beyond the arc.

Cameroon (0-1) looks to keep its playoff hopes alive when it takes on Guinea (0-1) in a matchup of Group C teams who had losing debuts. The top two teams for each group advance.

Should Cameroon advance, Mbala and company could possibly meet defending champion Nigeria led by former NBA player Ike Diogu.
