GILAS Women's team failed to progress in the 2019 Fiba Women's Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament as it suffered a 114-75 defeat to Korea on Saturday at The Trusts Arena in Auckland, New Zealand.
Janine Pontejos buried a triple to start the game, but the Koreans responded with a 22-0 assault to wrest control of the game.
Korea shot 21 for 46 from downtown for a scorching 45 percent clip, as well as an efficient 50 percent shooting from the field.
Kang Leeseul buried the jumper that allowed the Koreans to extend the lead to its highest at 45, 114-69, with 1:30 left.
Afril Bernardino had 19 points, eight rebounds and two steals for the Philippines, which went winless in two outings.
Pontejos got 17 points on a 3-of-10 shooting from threes, while Gemma Miranda added nine points, four boards, and two assists as the Filipinas got beat on the boards, 55 to 40.
The Philippines wraps up its schedule against China on Sunday.
Kang made the most of her chances as she shot 4-of-9 from threes off the bench to top Korea with 16 points.
Shin Jihyun also went a perfect 3-of-3 from rainbow country and finished with 15 points, five assists and three boards as six other players got to double digits in scoring.
Their efforts boosted Korea's chances from progressing to the OQT proper as it rose to 2-0.
