KEVIN Quiambao has joined Gilas Pilipinas practice on Monday after training in the United States in a bid to gain a spot in the NBA Summer League.
A video by Ginebra boy’s ball-baller’s showed Quiambao in Gilas practice at The Upper Deck as they continue their build-up for the FIBA Asia Cup 2025.

In an interview last week, Gilas coach Tim Cone said the team was supportive of Quiambao’s US foray where he was also able to play scrimmage games against GLeague players.
Cone said the original date of KQ coming back was July 16, but that was fluid and he informed the team that he could also be joining Gilas a little later, which was exactly what happened.
“He’s trying to do something special so we are not going to interfere with it,” said Cone last week.

Cone said that by being part of the pool of players initially named, he doesn’t see problems with the Korean Basketball League player coming in two weeks after Gilas started practices since he is already familiar with the system.
“He is a guy that has been there from the beginning so he knows what we are doing. You always want to have as much time as you can… Any practice that we have together is going to make us better. If we are not together practicing, we are not going to get better. Any little practice we can have is a chance for us to be better,” said Cone.
Already reporting for practice with Gilas were Justin Brownlee, Dwight Ramos, Carl Tamayo, AJ Edu, Scottie Thompson, Japeth Aguilar, Troy Rosario, RJ Abarrientos, Chris Newsome, and Jamie Malonzo.
San Miguel’s June Mar Fajardo and Cjay Perez, and TNT’s Calvin Oftana are expected to join Gilas practice as soon as the PBA 49th Season Philippine Cup Finals ends. The Beermen are ahead, 3-1.
