JORDI Gomez de Liano, Kenji Duremdes, and Echo Laure lead the 22-player training pool for Gilas Pilipinas Youth as it begins its buildup for the 2019 Fiba Under-16 Asian Championships.
Gomez de Liano is the younger brother of University of the Philippines stars Juan and Javi Gomez de Liano and is currently suiting up for the Junior Maroons.
Duremdes is the son of 1998 PBA MVP and now-MPBL commissioner Kenneth Duremdes, while Laure is the son of former PBA player Eddie. Both are currently studying in National University.
Ateneo's Ian Espinosa and Lebron Lopez, La Salle Greenhills' Jesse Arciaga and Filipinno-New Zealander Mason Amos also made the pool.
Completing the training pool are Kim Aaron Tamayo, Reinhard Jumanoy and Poul Justin Palacielo of Nazareth School of National University; Sean Aldous Torculas of University of the Philippines; Justin Josiah Diaz of Ateneo; Prince Alao and Nicael Dominic Cabanero of San Beda; John Rey Dominic Guevarra of Letran; Mark Kenshin Padrones and Luis Buenaventura of Far Eastern University; Seven Gagate, Ethan Rod Alian, Manuel Antonio Luis Pablo and Jan Clement Macalalag of La Salle Greenhills; and Keith Anthony Wongchuking of Xavier.
Gilas Youth head coach Sandy Arespacochaga will continue his training with these kids once he returns from the 2019 Fiba Under-19 World Cup in Heraklion, Greece.
The Philippines finished in fourth place in the 2017 Fiba Under-16 meet, with Kai Sotto leading the way.
