THE Gilas Pilipinas family is now seeking prayers for injured forward Kelly Williams.
The high-flying Talk 'N Text wingman slipped on a wet Meralco Gym flooring shortly after the start of the national team's first drill on Monday evening and the initial signs are not good.
"May nag-pop eh. Manhid ang pakiramdam niya ngayon, he'll undergo MRI scan later. The team therapist is there with him now," said a Gilas Pilipinas source.
National coach Tab Baldwin sought prayers for the Fil-American swingman when he gathered members of the pool for the final huddle.
"Tonight, we pray for Kelly. Let's pray for Kelly," he said.
Williams, a former PBA MVP making a comeback to the Gilas program, looked sharp and in shape and in fact ready to reprise his role with the national team until the accident happened.
"Nadulas siya eh. Dun nga may nag-snap raw sa right knee niya," added the source.
Williams couldn't walk on his own after the injury and had to be helped out of the floor by Texters teammate Ranidel de Ocampo, who is sidelined himself because of a hamstring injury.
The initial assessment is an MCL injury, but an ACL tear is also not being ruled out at this point, according to the source who gets updates on Williams' condition from the Cardinal Santos hospital.
"We have to wait for the MRI scan later, pero we need prayers for Kelly. He only wanted to represent the country," the Gilas insider said.
