KARL-ANTHONY Towns made a good impression in his first game with Dominican Republic, lifting his team to a 94-88 win over Canada in their preparation game in Granada, Spain.
The Minnesota Timberwolves star had 20 points, six rebounds, and two assists as the Dominican Republic beat a Canada team that had multiple NBA players including Lu Dort, who led his team in scoring with 13 points.
Strong start for KAT
KAT played his first tune-up game with Dominican Republic after joining the training camp just a few days ago.
LJ Figueroa also had 20 points for Dominican Republic, which also picked up its first victory after the third game of their official preparation matches.
The Dominican Republic will be the first opponent of Gilas Pilipinas in the Fiba Basketball World Cup, facing each other in the opener on Aug. 25 at the Philippine Arena.

Gilas Pilipinas assistant coach Tim Cone was reportedly at the site of the game to scout Dominican Republic in preparation for the first match.
