KAI Sotto is fully committed to playing for the Philippine national team even in wake of his decision to go abroad to fulfill his dream of becoming the first-ever local born NBA player.

Sotto’s father Ervin said Kai will be suiting up for the country in the 2019 Fiba Under-19 World Cup this year in Heraklion, Greece from June 29 to July 7.

Ervin said he will also play for the national team if the senior national squad will also invite him to any competitions in any level like the Fiba World Cup and its qualifiers, Asian Games, or even the Southeast Asian Games that will be held in the next few years.

Ervin said the contract they have signed with their agent East West Private allows Kai to play in international competitions for the Philippines.

“Sa kontrata na pinirmahan namin ni Kai at sa pipirmahan namin sa anong club, number one priority namin ‘yung Gilas,” Sotto said. “Ano mang oras na kailanganin ng Pilipinas ‘yung serbisyo ng anak ko, expect niyo na nandoon ‘yung bata.”
