GILAS cadets Kai Sotto and Carl Tamayo banner the 12-man Batang Gilas Pilipinas roster which will compete in the 2018 Fiba Under-17 World Cup in Argentina from June 30 to July 8.
Coach Mike Oliver put premium on height in his lineup as he enlisted five centers in his squad.
Joining Sotto and Tamayo up front are Raven Cortez of De La Salle Zobel, Yukien Andrada of San Beda, and Geo Chiu of Ateneo.
Basketball Without Borders Asia MVP Forthsky Padrigao of Ateneo will also command the point together with Terrence Fortea and Gerry Abadiano of Nazareth School of National University, and Mac Guadaña of Lyceum.
Wings RC Calimag of La Salle Greenhills, Josh Lazaro of San Beda, and Migs Pascual of De La Salle Zobel round out the squad.
Bismarck Lina of UST, Rafael Go of Chiang Kai Shek, and the FEU duo of King Balaga and Jorick Bautista will serve as the team’s reserves.
Batang Gilas is slotted in Group D in the preliminary round. It opens its campaign against Croatia on June 30, before facing France on July 1, and against host Argentina on July 3.
