JUSTIN Brownlee will likely be out for Gilas Pilipinas in the fourth window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
Head coach Tim Cone revealed the development on Monday, saying that Brownlee 'isn't healthy enough' for the two games in the next window against Jordan and Iran.
“The big elephant in the room right now is Justin is not here and will most lilkely not play,” Cone said during Monday’s press conference at the Mall of Asia Arena. “So we will be going without Justin. And that’s a big adjustment but again, with Kai here, June Mar, and AJ, we feel we have the requisite size to be successful in this window.”
Brownlee has been out since the last game of the previous window against Australia due to a hamstring strain and peroneal tendinopathy on his right leg as swelling and cartilage defects on his left knee.
It appears that Brownlee’s injuries has yet to heal.
“He, at this point, doesn’t feel like he is really healthy enough to contribute,” Cone said. “Whether that’s really injury or health, he was having some issues obviously from the last window. He wasn’t able to play against Australia," he continued.
“We were hoping that those issues would be resolved by the time we play here. But as it turned out, he is telling us that he is just not healthy," Cone said.
