JUSTIN Arana is set to be called up by Gilas Pilipinas in the coming window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
Sources said the Converge big man has been contacted by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas officials for his papers intended for his upcoming call-up to Gilas Pilipinas.
Once official, Arana's presence adds a big man to the Gilas pool as they take on New Zealand on July 3 in Auckland and Australia on July 6 in Perth.
He also joins Juan Gomez de Liano and Justine Baltazar in the Gilas pool after they were called up in previous windows.
Gilas Pilipinas is scheduled to join together and prepare for the next window at the conclusion of the PBA 50th Season Commissioner's Cup in June.
He also joins a Gilas frontcourt that is led by Kai Sotto, AJ Edu, Quentin Millora-Brown and June Mar Fajardo.
Converge recently concluded its campaign in the PBA Commissioner's Cup, giving Arana ample time to prepare and recover before the Gilas call-up.
Arana suffered an Achilles strain against Blackwater, but that would only require a few weeks to recover.
