JUNE Mar Fajardo is set to sit out the next two months after suffering a stress fracture on his right shin.

Sources close to the situation bared the unwelcome development which will force the reigning four-time PBA MVP to sit out the first window of the second round of the 2019 Fiba World Cup Asian qualifiers this September.

Gilas Pilipinas is set to open its campaign against Iran in Tehran on September 13 before flying back home to meet Qatar in a closed-door game at Smart Araneta Coliseum on September 17.

Fajardo was one of the three Gilas players who escaped suspension following the melee at Philippine Arena back in July and was initially seen as one of the key holdovers for coach Yeng Guiao’s prospective Philippine team roster for the second round.

Barring any other injuries, Fajardo can make his comeback in mid-October which could allow him to play for the Beermen at the tailend of the season-ending 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup.
