JORDAN Clarkson is completely focused on the Los Angeles Lakers' training camp, but he made it clear his heart is with his 'Gilas brothers' in China.
The Lakers' Fil-American guard showed his support for the Philippine team on Saturday, just hours before the team takes on host China in Changsha in the final of the 2015 Fiba Asia Men's Basketball Championship.
Clarkson sent his best wishes to the team in the form of a message he made on the app letters and posted on Twitter, making it clear that he believes that Gilas has "the heart of a champion and will fight all the way."
"I must admit that while I'm invested into the training camp of my sophomore season, my HEART is with my GILAS Brothers in China," said Clarkson, who would've played for the Philippines in Changsha had he been cleared by Fiba and the Lakers.
The 6-5 Lakers guard also praised Gilas coach Tab Baldwin.
"I applaud the job that Coach Baldwin has done and I join all Filipinos across the world in support of GILAS," he wrote. "I BELIEVE - we have the heart of a champion and will fight till the end."
As a parting shot, he said: "The WAR CRY that pours from the heart at this moment is simply: LABAN PILIPINAS!!!!"
He put in a handwritten note with the hashtag: #OnewinfromRio.
