JORDAN Clarkson cheered up his Gilas 'brothers' after the shock loss to Palestine, reminding them that they 'only lost the first skirmish, not the war.'
The Fil-American guard took to Twitter to post a message to Gilas after the 73-75 loss to Palestine in their Fiba Asia Championship debut on Wednesday which Clarkson himself admitted was 'heartbreaking to watch.'
But the Lakers guard was quick to add that the real test still lies ahead of Gilas in a campaign where he could've played in the red, white and blue had he been granted permission by his NBA ballclub and given clearance by Fiba.
The real test of our team's heart will come against Hong Kong, Kuwait and others in the next rounds," Clarkson said in a touching message he posted through the app letters.com.
"Let's show our fellow Filipinos and the world our resiliency and the pride it takes to win. Laban Pilipinas. Puso."
"Stay together, win together," he added.
Clarkson, who joined the team in its Manila training as well as in its Jones Cup campaign in Chinese Taipei, said he is also looking forward to the day when he finally plays for Gilas.
"The day will come soon ... when WE will win when the world is watching!" he said on his official Twitter account @jclarkson.
