JERICHO Cruz and Guam had no answers for Fanbo Zeng and Hanseng Yang as they were blown out by China, 101-53, in Group C of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers inside Hefei Sports Center.
The San Miguel guard started and played the most minutes for Guam, finishing with 12 points on 4-13 shooting, two rebounds, two assists and a steal in the blowout loss.
After a pretty close first quarter, Zeng led a big second quarter for China as they took a 45-27 at the halftime break, before Yang basically buried Guam in the fourth to amuse the home crowd with a lopsided victory.
Yang finished with 16 points and six rebounds while Zeng, who played for Ignite in the NBA G-League, added 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists for China who improved to 2-1 in the qualifications.

Gabriel Simon led the way for Guam with 14 points but as a team they just shot 33 percent and turned the ball over 16 times. They dropped to 1-2 for the qualifications.
Cruz has been an integral part for Guam’s run in the qualification so far, being their third best scorer with averages of 11.3 points per game, 3.3 rebounds, two assists and a steal in nearly 30 minutes of action per game.
They head home this Sunday to take on the unbeaten Japan.
