JAYSON Castro on Thursday left a small window open for another stint with Gilas Pilipinas, a day after hinting that he has played his last game with the national team after a failed campaign in the 2016 Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
In an interview aired over DZSR Sports Radio, Castro said he isn't entirely sure about calling it quits for Gilas Pilipinas, adding that his focus for now is spending time with his family to rest and recover at the end of another rigorous campaign with the national side.
“Ayoko munang sagutin ‘yun kasi marami ngang nagtatanong sa akin. Basta gusto ko munang isipin na gusto ko munang magpahinga kasi almost four years na rin akong naglalaro sa Gilas, wala pang break,” said Castro.
“Siguro I’m not sure pa kasi gusto ko munang mag-focus sa family ko,” he added.
The Talk ‘N Text point guard also opened up about the heartbreaking defeat in the OQT, saying it should serve as a lesson for future Gilas teams as the Philippines looks to improve in the international stage.
“’Yung mga darating na Gilas, mas magiging prepared na kasi ‘yung mga nangyayaring ganito, eto ‘yung mga makikita natin na lessons na puwede nating dalhin sa international competition,” said Castro.
