BOCAUE — Janine Pontejos salvaged the Philippines’ campaign in the 2018 Fiba 3x3 World Cup, winning the Shootout Final on Tuesday at Philippine Arena.
The sharp-shooter from Centro Escolar University scored 14 points, including eight straight long balls and a pair from the money ball rack to win the crown.
Pontejos was tied with Russia’s Alexandra Stolyar with 14 points, but the Filipina had the better time finishing her run in 41.86 seconds to win the gold.
Stolyar finished in 49.9 seconds.
Marin Hrvoje of Croatia placed third with his 11 points, while Maksim Dybivskii of Russia got eight.
