IT was a coach's decision not to field Jamie Malonzo in Gilas Pilipinas' 95-87 loss to Chinese Taipei in the opener of the 31st FIBA Asia Cup.
The move was confirmed to Spin.ph as the high-flying forward was the lone Gilas not to play in the stunning loss.

Neither was the former Barangay Ginebra stalwart nursing an injury, the same source said
Despite coming off a calf surgery, Malonzo still made it back as part of Gilas for the Asia Cup.
He last played during the last qualifiers in Chinese Taipei and New Zealand, respectively
After Malonzo, veteran big man Japeth Aguilar was the least to see action among those who played for Gilas as he was on the floor for 16 seconds just before halftime.
