J-JAY Alejandro shrugged off fatigue after heading to Gilas Pilipinas practice straight from helping Go For Gold win its first match in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup on Monday.

"Sayang, malapit na ako eh. Pasig lang. Walang showbiz-showbiz, malapit lang talaga," Alejandro, who finished with five points in the 75-68 win against Gamboa Coffee Mix, said with a laugh.

Turning serious, the former National University standout said he didn’t want to waste the golden opportunity of learning the ropes from the best basketball players and minds in the Philippines.

“Well, ganoon talaga eh. Player, mapapagod at mapapagod ka talaga," he said after practice at the Meralco Gym.

The 22-year-old guard shared that this early, he’s already learning a lot from his experience in training with Gilas.

As long as the opportunity is there for him to learn from top players like Jayson Castro, Alejandro is making sure to make the time for Gilas training every Monday.

"Wala rin akong gagawin kasi. Tsaka minsan lang magpatawag ng practice, every Monday lang, so sayang 'yung chance makapag-practice," he said.
