ITALY rolled to a 93-87 win over Brazil on Sunday in the Fiba Solidarity Cup in Shenzhen, China to stay unbeaten in their preparation games for the 2023 Fiba Basketball World Cup.

Utah Jazz forward Simone Fontecchio had 26 points, his career-high with the Italy national team, according to the match report by fip.it. Stefano Tonut had 16 points in the Azzurri’s penultimate tune-up game for the World Cup.

Italy will face New Zealand on Monday before heading to Manila for the Fiba Basketball World Cup where one of its opponents is the Philippines.

Italy will go up against Gilas Pilipinas in their final group stage game on Aug. 29 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco is happy with the progress of the team.

“Let's continue to build. Brazil is an excellent team and I'm sure they will have a good World Cup. It took us a while to adjust but then the guys did what they know how to do to the end,” said Pozzecco as quoted by fip.it.
