Indonesia outduels Thailand to get chance at avenging loss to Gilas in Seaba final

Mario Wusyang led Indonesia in a close game against Thailand.

KUALA LUMPUR - Indonesia arranged a gold-medal match with Gilas Pilipinas after beating Thailand, 79-74, on Friday night in the 29th Southeast Asian Games men's basketball tournament at the MABA Stadium.

Mario Wuysang had 15 points while Arki Wisnu added 13 points in a closely fought semifinal, giving the Indonesians another shot at a Gilas team that beat them in the last Seaba final in Manila.

The two teams square off for the gold medal on Saturday night, although this Gilas team will be far different from the Andray Blatche-led side that dealt Indonesia a 97-64 beating in Manila last May.

The Indonesians' tough endgame stand spoiled the effort of Thai-American Tyler Lamb, who scored 26 points.

Earlier in the day, Gilas, made up mostly of cadets and amateur standouts, scraped past a hard-fighting Singapore side, 68-60, to stay unbeaten in four games.
